SERIES 3 tie-in novels
Following on from
our exclusive news-in-brief reveal that the 1976 aliens, Zygon, would be making
a re-appearance in SERIES 3, it seems that our BBC Source wrongly attributed
the information.
BBC BOOKS are releasing a Tenth Doctor/Martha
Jones novel, STING OF THE ZYGON on 19th April. Although, the
release could be "hot-on-the-heels" of a "surprise" for viewers.
As revealed by eyeofhorus.org.uk in
January 2006, Terrance Dicks will be writing for the NEW SERIES - sadly, for
now, for the novel series.
The full list of new DOCTOR WHO novel
titles for the first part of 2007 are:
01/03/2007 - MADE OF STEEL (Quick Read) by
Terrance Dicks
03/05/2007 - GLOW IN THE DARK MONSTERS STICKER GUIDE
03/05/2007 - DOCTOR WHO - FUNFAX 2
Preview of the new novels:
MADE OF STEEL (Terrance Dicks):
This latest adventure sees the Doctor pitted against one of his most famous adversaries
- the deadly Cybermen. It is the first book to feature the Doctor's new companion
Martha Jones.
STING OF THE ZYGONS (Stephen
Cole): The TARDIS lands the Doctor and Martha in the Lake District in 1909, where
a small village is being terrorised by a giant, scaly monster. The search is
on for the elusive 'Beast of Cumbria', and explorers, naturalists and hunters
from across the country are descending on the hills. King Edward VII himself
is on his way to join the search, with a knighthood for whoever finds the Beast.
But there is more at work in the Lakes than just a monster, and when the Doctor
discovers certain old enemies have made an appearance, the hunting party - and
even the king - may find danger they couldn't have imagined.
WOODEN HEART (former eyeofhorus contributor,
Martin Day): On a large silver spaceship, seemingly deserted and spinning slowly
between the stars, Martha and the Doctor make a horrific discovery. Is this really
a floating tomb, and why has a stretch of wooded countryside suddenly appeared
in the middle of the craft? Things become even more mysterious as they explore
the woods and find a village within - a village traumatised by missing children...
THE LAST DODO (Jacqueline Rayner):
After a trip to the zoo, the Doctor and Martha go in search of a real live dodo,
and are transported by the TARDIS to the mysterious Museum of the Last Ones.
There, in the Earth section, they discover every extinct creature up to the present
day - billions of them, from the tiniest insect to the biggest dinosaur, all
still alive and in suspended animation. Preservation is the Museum's only job
- collecting the last of every endangered species from all over the universe.
And for millennia the Museum has been trying to trace one elusive specimen: the
last of the Time Lords...

Tennant to leave
THE
SUN announces
that David Tennant will be leaving DOCTOR WHO in SERIES 4. Slow

THE

No big shocks if true, two and half years at the
top is just about right. This would mean, if correct, Tennant will stop
filming by December 2007.
And the FILM of the SERIES without Tennant? Shame.
We're heading down to LABROKES (The Betting Agents)

Of course, Tennant will leave the role (a role
he was destined to play - and superbly) at some point, so, BBC WALES, let fans

Just when you thought
that a toy Dalek could not actually damage a human comes a damning report.
The Deafness Research UK has found that the CHARACTER
OPTIONS DALEK BATTLE
PACK (£29.99) could potentially damage your child's hearing.
It asked Brad Backus, of the Ear Institute at University College London, to
test the noise levels produced by a selection of toys available this year.
Fourteen of the fifteen submitted for testing produced noise levels above
the re- commended decibel safety limit of 85dB(A) when held close to the ear.
The DOCTOR WHO product was measured between 90 - 120 dB. As loud as a Lawnmower
or a helicopter.

TARDIS
Just when you though
that CHARACTER OPTIONS had cornered the market in producing
the most accurate TARDIS on the market comes along COD STEAK
MODELS (official BBC licence holder).
Like the recently released MFX Cyberman head,
these are truly collectable (not toys) - the
most accurate representation of the TARDIS ever . A quote from
the "selling blurb"? No, from a "hard to please" eyeofhorus.org.uk Editor.
The prices ("introductory offer" direct from
the manufacturer) are £250
for the standard Collector's Model (with
doors moulded closed) and £350 for the deluxe Cabinet (with hinging doors
and shelves).
More manufacture's information:
The TARDIS Collector's Models are perfect fifth-scale replicas of the Doctor's
TARDIS (55cm /22inches tall), based upon exact measurements of the iconic police
box as she appeared on TV from 1980 to 1989.
They are cast in durable resin, and boast an unrivalled attention to detail,
from the miniature Yale lock and door handles (complete with tiny screw-heads)
to the authentic signage and surface texture.
Each of the 48 window-panes is individually mounted, with a mix of flat and pebbled "glass",
and the box's blue surface is given a realistic weathered finish, testament to
the ravages of the space-time continuum!
The lamp has an authentic fresnel lens, and is operated by a remote switch in
the shape of a perfectly detailed "Baby TARDIS", 7cm tall, (batteries and bulb
included).
Provided with each model, is a large (approx A2) wall-chart, illustrating the
five principal police-box props used on TV over the years, complete with a carefully-researched
history.
Two versions are available - a standard display Collector's Model with
doors moulded closed, and a deluxe Cabinet with doors which
pivot inwards and outwards.
The Cabinet version can therefore also be used for storage, and is provided with
two adjustable shelves, which can accommodate up to 28 DVDs or 60 CDs.
Each item has a unique number and Certificate of Authenticity, and they will
only be available for a limited period, so no doubt in future years they¹ll
be highly sought-after collector¹s items.
The
models are available direct by mail order. We are trying to find a online outlet
for the products.
