success
As eyeofhorus.org.uk reported
on 18 January 2006, DOCTOR WHO was "guaranteed" a BAFTA
award.
The BAFTA Source was correct.
At last night's London ceremony, DOCTOR
WHO was
awarded BEST DRAMA SERIES for the Christopher Eccleston 2005
series. Billie Piper collected the award from Sir David Jason (could we see him
in SERIES 3?).
And as we reported, Russell T Davies was 'up for'
the DENNIS POTTER AWARD for outstanding writing for television,
and, yes, he deservedly won it (not for DOCTOR WHO but his outstanding,
revolutionary work on such TV dramas as QUEER AS FOLK, THE
SECOND COMING, and BOB AND ROSE.
Truly a 'Drama Queen'.
The big question: why wasn't Eccleston nominated?
Additionally, the series won the PIONEER
PEOPLE'S VOTE for best TV show. But as this was a vote open to multiple voting (that EOH
even encouraged) this award can be ignored.
The ceremony is broadcast on ITV1 on Monday
8 May ay 20:00PM.
