the creature into which the Kaled people will eventually mutate. These travel
machines are destined to become Daleks -an anagram of the name of the Kaled race.
The Doctor helps to lead a revolt of Kaled scientists, themselves horrified by
what Davros is doing.

MAY 2005 | NEW
SERIES | SERIES 1 Volume 2
The
Dalek is back. Quick, the sofa!
The second volume from DOCTOR
WHO SERIES 1 is released on DVD
on 13 June.
The single disc (132 minutes - Certificate 12)
contains another three episodes from the hit BBC1 show (it's great saying that...):
ALIENS OF LONDON
WORLD WAR THREE
DALEK
The Doctor (played superbly by Christopher Eccleston)
and Rose (stunningly acted by Billie Piper - a joy to watch) encounter an alien
pig, nine-foot tall green creatures called Slitheen, and a solitary Dalek waiting
for orders.
The stories are both witty and scary, action-packed
and thought-provoking, but the essence of DOCTOR WHO remain as strong as ever.

MAY 2005 | NEW
SERIES | SERIES 1 Volume 1
The
BBC could not have wished for a more stunning start toDOCTOR
WHOthan the three
episodes featured onDOCTOR WHO SERIES
1 VOLUME 1DVD release (16 May 2005).
After a gap of 14 years, DOCTOR
WHO crashes onto
the screen with Russell T Davies' 'tour de force', ROSE.
It is a perfectly constructed story that introduces and explains everything
you need to know - Who is the Doctor, Whos is Rose, why a blue Police Box is
bigger on the inside, and why window-shop display mannequins are coming alive.Fantastic.And then the journey begins through time and
space, as the Doctor and Rose materialise on Platform 1 to witness the final
seconds of an exploding Earth. Stunning special effects (worthy of a movie blockbuster),
lavishly designed aliens (including a spitting blue, podgy alien called Moxx
of Balhoon), heart-wrenching dialogue that reveals that the Doctor's home planet
has been atomised to dust, and action that that leaves you breathless. THE
END OF THE WORLD is a remarkable piece of British drama.
The final episode is THE
UNQUIET DEAD. A period
piece, set in 1869, in which the time travellers meet gaseous creatures called
the Gelth (who are seeking refuge after the great Time War) and author Charles
Dickens (exquisitely played by Simon Callow). A dark, often gruesome, story
that needs parental guidance if young children are watching.

APRIL 2005 | DVD
| 2006 SPECIAL CLASSIC SERIES BOXSET
The CLASSIC SERIES
of DOCTOR WHO is not to be ignored
amid the marketing campaigns for the NEW SERIES. Following the 25 April release
of THE
CLAWS OF AXOS, BBC DVD will be releasing (provisionally) REVELATION
FO THE DALEKS, THE WEB PLANET (these two potential releases were first
identified on EOH last year) and THE
CITY OF DEATH (which we didn't). However, to placate CLASSIC
SERIES fans, BBC DVD
are planning to release a boxset of classic episodes in 2006. Content? We don't
do guesses. 16
April - The boxset (initially to be titled, DOCTOR
WHO - THE BEGINNING) will include
the remastered stories, AN UNEARTHLY
CHILD, THE DALEKS and EDGE
OF DESTRUCTION.
Last year, EOH Sources indicated that THE
DALEKS would be released toward to
the end of 2004 (which, obviously, didn't happen...); this would have acted as
an introduction to new fans awaiting the NEW SERIES.
Other releases: Again, last year, EOH Sources
indicated that 'rights clearance' were approved for THE
WEB PLANET, REVELATION
OF THE DALEKS, FRONTIOS and SURVIVAL.
The later two will be released in 2006, along with Troughton's THE
INVASION or THE
ICE WARRIORS.

APRIL 2005 | NEW
SERIES | SERIES ONE DVD BOXSET
7
April 2005 - DOCTOR WHO SERIES ONE boxset package added. 7
April 2005 - The
interior shot of the TARDIS
package has been published. Released
on the 16 May, the BBC SHOP has released the cover for DOCTOR
WHO - SERIES ONE Volume 1 dvd set.The first volume contains
basic content (i.e. no extras. The December TARDIS-styled Series One DVD Boxset
will have ALL the Extras!) for the first three episodes starring Billie Piper
as Rose Tyler. Duration 135 minutes.
Christopher Eccleston's Doctor is wise and funny,
cheeky and brave. An alien and a loner (it's difficult keeping up with friends
when your day job involves flitting through time and space), his detached logic
gives him a vital edge when the world's in danger. But when it comes to human
relationships, he can be found wanting. That's why he needs new assistant Rose.
Rose is a shop-girl from the present day. From the moment they meet, the Doctor
and Rose are soulmates.
They understand and complement each other. As they travel together through time,
encountering new adversaries, the Doctor shows her things beyond imagination.
She starts out as an innocent, unfettered by worldly concerns. But she ends up
an adventurer who, by the end of the series, can never go home again...
Volume 2 will be released
13 June, and will contain FOUR episodes (ALIENS OF LONDON, DALEK and THE
LONG GAME). Duration 180 minutes.
